That Mike Borgonzi press conference was the best #Titans media session in a long time.
Outstanding questions, better answers. I believe in Mike Borgonzi. The Titans should give him TIME. Lots of time.

Tennessee Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi met with the media on Wednesday to discuss the team, the organization, and the status of the organization’s plan for Nashville moving forward.
Coming over from Kansas City, Borgonzi was widely considered a home run choice, and after the success of his first draft class, it appears he was the right hire. During his availability, Borgonzi appeared focused, honest, and determined, and handled himself in a way that seemed to instill confidence in the fan base.
Borgonzi has been applauded for his stance on the team and its direction moving forward. He not only answered tough questions but also gave forthright answers, even if they left some questions unanswered, leaving fans in a different state of mind. Some fans even took to social media with their approval.
Standard for #Titans press conferences is low.
But Mike Borgonzi was articulate and authoritative about important matters.
Further shows me he’s the best football person in the building, should be lead decision-maker on coach.

But what did he say about the state of the Titans? Here are some highlights from his press conference.
On the Titans’ dismal 1-8 record
“The results are good enough right now, and we understand that,” Borgonzi said. “And we understand the frustration with the fan base. And we know that we have to earn back the trust of this fan base.” And finished that off with, “But we are doing everything possible right now to get this right, and to fix it. And, we will. I believe we will at the end of the day.”
While some of the free agent acquisitions from 2025 haven’t been home runs, there have been some improvements made, and the draft picks in his first draft do offer hope. Will they get it right? A lot will depend on who is tapped as the next head coach.
On the Jarvis Brownlee trade
“I know the first trade we made with Jarvis Bronwlee was controversial around here because he’s a young player who was ascending.” He said, “You are evaluating the fit, and without getting into a lot of details, we don’t have the culture right now sometimes to help guys develop. We thought at the time some of the habits weren’t conducive to building the culture right now. I wish Jarvis nothing but the best.”
This answer still leaves some mystery to the reasoning for trading Brownlee early in the season to the New York Jets. While it definitely had to do more with the developing team culture than with performance, the specifics remain unknown, and the organization is tight-lipped.
On quarterback Cam Ward and his development
“He looks like a rookie quarterback playing on a team that had the No.1 pick last year,” Borgonzi said. “He is developing, and he is developing with a lot of other rookies, too. They are learning together, and they are only going to be better because of it. I have full confidence that Cam, because of his work ethic, because of his drive, that he will fix the things he needs to fix, just like every quarterback in this league. I have full confidence that he’s going to get there.”
This might have been his best response of the day. He is absolutely right in his assessment. There is a reason the Titans had the first pick in the draft and why they selected Ward. Although there were improvements made to the roster, there are still significant holes. Couple that with the injury bug that has hit the Titans hard in 2025, and the flashes of potential should give some hope for the future.
On the rookie class as a whole
“Special class,” Borgonzi said. “They represent everything that we want in a Titan” with their work ethic, passion, and drive to get better. I think they are all contributing,”
Injuries have robbed some young players of snaps in 2025, but most of the rookie class is taking on a larger share of snaps every week. Ward, Chimere Dike, Epic Ayomanor, Gunnar Helm, Marcus Harris, and Kevin Winston Jr. have all seen an uptick in snaps in recent weeks, and many will likely take on a larger role following the bye week.
The next head coach?
“it’s imperative we make this decision: Who is the best leader of this organization moving forward. Me and Chad (Brinker) have had conversations and it’s important that is not only a fit for the organization, we want a leader here, I don’t care if it is defense, or offense.” Borgonzi said, “We’ll come together and make the best decision.”
That may be the biggest question for the Titans moving forward and their future success. The minor improvements seen in the past few weeks since parting ways with Brian Callahan and selecting Mike McCoy as interim head coach prove that Callahan wasn’t ready to ascend into a head coaching role. Tennessee may still be losing, but they are playing hard and have improved in many areas that plagued the organization for the entire Callahan tenure.
There are still many areas that must be addressed, but with some foundational pieces such as Ward, Jeffery Simmons, and Peter Skoronski in place, Borgonzi will enter the offseason and the coaching search with a tremendous amount of cap space and some added draft capital to help speed up the turnaround.
