NFL.com
Another one where many are favoring the Texans. Four of NFL.com’s five staff members are picking Houston. Here is why Tom Blair is picking the Texans:
“Lawrence already helped squeak out a 17-10 victory over the Texans in Jacksonville in Week 3, despite logging the eighth-worst passer rating (56.5) of his career in that game,” Blaire wrote. “But the Jags’ defense has softened since then, and Houston’s has further solidified, and I can’t shake the feeling that Lawrence and Co. will struggle to stand up to the heat.”
Pro Football Talk
Mike Florio is picking the Texans to win by a field goal in a low-scoring game, while Chris Simms is picking Jacksonville to win by a field goal.
“Davis Mills is no slouch, and the Houston defense is dominant,” Florio wrote.
CBS Sports
Pete Prisco is picking the Texans to win by a score of 23-17.
“The Jaguars are banged up in a lot of spots, but the Texans might not have C.J. Stroud, who is in the concussion protocol,” Prisco wrote. “The Jaguars are playing consecutive road games, which is tough. This is a tough pick because of all the injuries, but I will go with the Texans behind their defense because I think Stroud will play.” Â
