WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – It will be a busy weekend for high school football, with playoffs underway.
Section 3 and Section 10 Football continues with local teams involved
In class A, where the fifth seeded Carthage Comets hit the road to meet top seed Whitesboro tonight at 6:30,
In their only other meeting this season, Carthage lost to Whitesboro 28-12 on October 24.
Onto class B where the fourth seed Indian River Wolves travel to New Hartford to meet the top seeded Spartans tonight at 6.
These two teams met in the opening game of the season, with the Wolves falling to New Hartford 50-48.
In class C, the second seeded General Brown Lions play host to sixth seed Little Falls at Fisher Field tonight at 7.
In their only other meeting this season the Lions rolled past Little Falls 69-7 on October 3 in Dexter.
In class D a meeting of two Frontier League teams, as top seed Lowville takes on fourth seed Sandy Creek Saturday at noon in Westmoreland.
Lowville and Sandy Creek met one other time this season with the Red Raiders beating Sandy Creek 52-20 on October 3.
The Section 10 class B title is up for grabs on tonight, as top seed OFA hosts second seed Potsdam in Ogdensburg at 7.
In their only other meeting this season, OFA beat Potsdam 36-14 on October 17.
The 2025 Section X Cross Country country Championships were held in snowy Tupper Lake.
In the boys cross country championship, Massena defeated incomplete Malone for the Class B title.
In Class C, Potsdam claimed first place with 22 points, followed by Canton 44, Gouverneur 67, and both Salmon River and Ogdensburg incomplete.
For the D title, Tupper Lake edged Norwood-Norfolk 27-28, with Brushton-Moira incomplete.
Massena’s Andrew David took top honors in a time of 16:46.
Potsdam teammates Will Jones at 17:07 and Jackson Dinan at 17:13 claimed the next two positions.
Massena’s Logan David finished fourth fourth at 17:18, and Norwood-Norfolk’s Riley Sweet rounded out the top five at 17:33.
On the girls side, for the Class B title, Massena beat Malone 22-35.
In Class B, Norwood-Norfolk dominated three of the top four positions, beating Potsdam 17-46.
And in Class D, Brushton-Moira defeated incomplete Tupper Lake for the title.
The Flyers’ Allie Snell captured first place with a time of 20:11, eleven seconds better than second-place Una O’Connell of Malone.
Flyer teammates Addie Snell finished at 20:46, followed by Bekka Colbert at 21:32.
Potsdam’s Alison Kelson finished five seconds behind at 21:37, rounding out the top five.
