CINCINNATI (WXIX) – The Bengals have found themselves in the midst of trade talks because of some moves made at the NFL trade deadline Tuesday.
No, it’s not Trey Hendrickson as the centerpiece of the discussions… It’s Joe Burrow.
Social media and sports talk shows love a good hypothetical trade, especially when the trade involves a superstar and one of the big market teams.
In this case, it’s Burrow and the New York Jets.
On Tuesday, the Jets made a pair of moves that give them a stockpile of draft picks.
New York’s arsenal of picks for the next two drafts now includes five 1st rounders and three 2nd rounders.
The thought of the Jets dangling those picks in front of teams is being discussed on TV and radio shows this week.
It seems Jets fans have their hearts set on Cincinnati’s star quarterback.

Mike Greenberg, a die-hard Jets fan and host of ESPN’s “Get Up,” said Thursday that his group chats with other Jets fans are buzzing with Burrow talk.
“The quarterback they want is Joe Burrow,” Greenberg said as he looked at NFL insider Adam Schefter.

“These delusional Jets fans, friends of mine, believe that with all these picks they are going to pry Joe Burrow out of a situation in Cincinnati,” Greenberg continued.
Schefter, the man in the know when it comes to the NFL, did not dismiss the talk.
Schefter, in fact, pivoted to asking the “Get Up” crew how Burrow feels about Cincinnati.
“How do you think Joe Burrow feels about the Bengals defense and the offensive line that’s protecting him?” Schefter asked.
The NFL insider added that no one knows what Burrow wants, but if the star quarterback did want out of Cincinnati, “that’s where it gets interesting” and “if that’s what he wants, it’s over.”
Would the Bengals say no if the Jets called, offering a staggering amount of draft picks?
Burrow has an unfortunate long injury history since entering the NFL.
He’s missed more than 25 games during his six years with Cincinnati.
It is still unknown if he will return for the 2025 season. The most recent report said Burrow was on track for a mid-December return if the Bengals were in playoff contention.
Even with the injury history, there is no reason the Bengals should trade Burrow.
He is 28, will be 29 on Dec. 10, and still has a lot of football left.
Trading a proven franchise quarterback for draft picks, that would likely be used on a college quarterback only to hope that player can play near Burrow’s level.
Speaking in reality, it just does not seem logical that the Bengals would entertain trading Burrow at this stage of his career.
