The Washington Commanders had Super Bowl aspirations heading into the 2025 NFL season, but their campaign has been anything but stellar after reaching the NFC Championship Game last year.

A large part of their optimism was centered around star quarterback Jayden Daniels, however, his lackluster play combined with several injuries have put the Commanders in a big hole in a competitive NFC while their division rivals the Philadelphia Eagles look like title contenders once again.

Washington saw Daniels exit their blowout loss against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday Night Football, and while the injury was yet another disappointing shock to their fanbase, ESPN’s Adam Schefter believes that the former LSU quarterback will avoid being placed on injured reserve.

Still, it’s a terrible blow for the Commanders as they try to claw their way back into the NFC East mix this season after already being dealt a number of key injuries along the way, including Austin Ekeler, Terry McLaurin and others.

This season, Daniels has only thrown for 1,100 yards and eight touchdowns despite being the runaway Offensive Rookie of the Year last season with 31 combined touchdowns.
