Lions WR Jameson Williams responds to two social media posts about him
Williams said he would like to speak to Keyshawn Johnson about some encouragement he had about Williams’ relative lack of receptions this season.
Kerby Joseph will miss his third straight game with a knee injury.
The Detroit Lions ruled Joseph and four other players out for Sunday’s game against the Washington Commanders, though starting tackles Penei Sewell and Taylor Decker are expected to play.
Joseph did not practice this week and has not played since the Lions’ Week 6 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. He injured his knee in training camp, then aggravated the injury in a September win over the Cleveland Browns.
Along with Joseph, the Lions (5-3) ruled defensive tackle Pat O’Connor (knee), running back Jacob Saylors (back), guard Myles Frazier (knee) and defensive tackle Josh Paschal (back) out for Sunday.
Frazier is on the physically unable to perform list and Paschal the nonfootball injury list. Neither has played this year.
Decker sat out practice Friday to rest a nagging shoulder injury,, but said he expects to play against against a Commanders team that beat the Lions in the playoffs last year.
Officially, he is listed as questionable for Sunday. Sewell, who practiced in full Friday for the first time this week, did not have an injury designation.
“I think our main motivation right now is coming off last week(‘s loss to the Minnesota Vikings) and let’s get back on track and go out there and play the brand of football that we know we can play,” Decker said. “Obviously, we played that organization last year in the playoffs. There’s a lot that’s different about them, there’s a lot that’s different about us. Yeah, sour taste in your mouth, but more than anything for me it’s like I want to get back on track from last week cause that was not a performance that we were happy to have as an offense or even as a team.”
Along with Decker, offensive tackle Dan Skipper (back), running back Craig Reynolds (hamstring), linebackers Malcolm Rodriguez (knee) and Grant Stuart (foot) and safety Daniel Thomas (forearm) are questionable.
Rodriguez is on the PUP list and Thomas is on injured reserve. The Lions would have to make a roster move for either to play Sunday.
