The 2025 season was supposed to bring hope for the future of the Tennessee Titans, but, instead, it has led to more turmoil and adversity. The Titans have been in rebuild mode for what seems like forever. It hasn’t been forever, but there hasn’t been any improvement for the Titans in almost five years.

This year, most thought that Brian Callahan would be able to develop Cam Ward like he did Joe Burrow, but he was unable to replicate what he did in Cincinnati. Ultimately, Callahan was fired with a 4-19 record as a head coach. Combined with injuries and self-inflicted wounds during games, the first half of the Titans’ season was dismal.

The second half of this season needs to have a different perspective, a different focus. ESPN’s Turron Davenport thinks the storyline will be around the Titans’ rookies.

Second-half storyline: The Titans focus will be on developing younger players such as Ward along with rookie receivers Elic Ayomanor and Chimere Dike and tight end Gunnar Helm. All eyes will be on Ward and interim coach Mike McCoy as they try to figure out how to be more efficient on offense to end Ward’s rookie season with momentum to carry over to 2026.

With Mike Borgonzi and Chad Brinker’s desire to continue building through the draft, the focus needs to be on the current rookies now. Getting them developed and up to speed in the NFL game is imperative before adding even more youth to this team in April.

The Titans’ focus now is less on winning games and more on planning for the future, so don’t be surprised if they end up with back-to-back No. 1 picks in the NFL draft.
