Coach Liam Coen preps Jaguars to be without Brian Thomas Jr. at Houston

Jaguars coach Liam Coen talks about not having Brian Thomas Jr. against Houston this weekend.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will be without several starters this week after injuries have piled up since the team’s game against the Los Angeles Rams in London, exacerbated further against the Las Vegas Raiders last week.

That includes receiver Brian Thomas Jr., who exited Sunday’s win over Vegas with an ankle injury. ESPN reported that Thomas is dealing with a “low-grade” high ankle sprain.

Last week, the Jaguars saw rookie receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter land on injured reserve after sustaining a knee injury. He must miss at least three games before returning.

The Jaguars have not indicated whether or not Hunter will return this season, even during a potential playoff run.

The Jaguars did receive some good news on the injury front this week, with linebacker Devin Lloyd expected to return to action alongside tight end Quintin Morris and receiver Tim Patrick.

To offset the ailments the team has had at receiver of late, the Jaguars traded for Las Vegas Raiders receiver Jakobi Meyers just ahead of Tuesday’s trade deadline. While Meyers may not play a full allotment of snaps this week, he’s expected to be a major part of the team’s offense moving forward.

Jacksonville will also get back receiver Dyami Brown, who has officially cleared the league’s concussion protocol after entering it during the team’s win over the Raiders last weekend.

Brown will need to step up with Thomas ruled out.
