The latest injury news will test the Jacksonville Jaguars’ depth at a key position on defense.

Injuries will continue to test the depth of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ secondary.

Last week, safety Eric Murray (neck) and wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter (knee) were placed on injured reserve.

This week, cornerback Jourdan Lewis has been ruled out with a neck injury.

Lewis suffered the injury in Week 9 against the Las Vegas Raiders, and he did not practice at all during the week.

Without Lewis for much of last week’s game, we saw Montric Brown and Greg Newsome playing outside cornerback, while Jarrian Jones took over at the nickel.

Presumably, we will see the Jaguars take the same approach this week.

As an incoming free agent, Lewis’ impact on this Jaguars team cannot be overstated. He quickly emerged as one of the leaders and has provided steady play at the cornerback position.

When the Jaguars are in their base 4-3 defense, Lewis is outside and then moves to the slot when in the nickel.

On the season, Lewis has allowed just 7.6 yards per catch while forcing two interceptions and three pass breakups. Opposing quarterbacks have a passer rating of just 88.0 when targeting him, according to PFF.

At safety last week with Murray out, Antonio Johnson started next to Andrew Wingard.

Christian Braswell will provide depth at cornerback, and we could see the Jaguars make a practice squad elevation from this position group.
