Denver Broncos outside linebacker Jonathon Cooper is playing through a broken thumb.
Cooper (6-4, 257 pounds) broke his thumb during the first quarter of last Sunday’s win over the Houston Texans, according to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis. He finished the game and even recorded a sack before undergoing more evaluation after the win.
Cooper received a cast on his thumb this week, and it did not appear to slow him down against the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday as he totaled two tackles (one behind the line), one quarterback hit and a half-sack in a 10-7 win. The 27-year-old pass rusher is now up to 7.5 sacks on the year, fifth-most in the NFL.
Cooper and teammate Nik Bonitto form arguably the best pass-rush duo in the NFL with 17 combined sacks through 10 games this season. Last year, they combined for 24 sacks, and they’re on pace for 29 quarterback takedowns this fall.
