KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Chiefs will reportedly play the Los Angeles Chargers to open the team’s 2025 season, but you will have to have a passport to be there, as the game will be held in Brazil.

The Chargers were already scheduled to play the NFL’s second-ever game in Brazil on Friday, September 5, during the league’s first week; now, the Chiefs will join them.

The game is slated to take place in São Paulo at the Arena Corinthians, also known as the Neo Química Arena. The stadium holds 49,205 people.

The Chiefs are undefeated in international games. They played in London in 2015, Mexico City in 2018 and Frankfurt in 2023.

The Kansas City Chiefs will be the first team in NFL history to play regular-season games in four different countries outside of the United States, as well as the first team to play in three countries outside of North America.

While the main story from today’s news is surely that the Chiefs will play in Brazil, having a Week 10 bye is also good news. It should allow the players to rest and recover from potential injuries later in the season than other teams.

After several players came forward with concerns about short turnarounds during the 2024-25 season, it’s safe to say the Chiefs were looking for a more conventional schedule this season. However, with a Brazil game and a pair of holiday matchups, that’s not quite the case.
