With Sauce Gardner gone, someone had to step up as the New York Jets’ recruiter, and Jarvis Brownlee Jr. has wasted no time filling that void.
After being waived by the Tennessee Titans, veteran safety Quandre Diggs posted on X, “Wow, what did I miss?” Brownlee wasted no time, quickly replying, “Come be a Jet brodie.”
Through nine games this season, Diggs has logged 30 total tackles.
In coverage this season, the Texas product has allowed eight of 11 passes thrown his way to be completed for 72 yards, giving opposing quarterbacks a 90.3 passer rating when throwing in his direction.
Though his production dipped compared to previous years, the 32-year-old remains one of the league’s more experienced safeties, with 652 career total tackles, 24 interceptions, 57 pass deflections, and two defensive touchdowns since entering the league as a sixth-round pick in 2015.
With Andre Cisco out for the season because of a torn pectoral muscle, the Jets’ safety depth will be tested. Veterans Tony Adams and Isaiah Oliver, who have struggled throughout the year, will be counted on to step up alongside rookie fourth-round pick Malachi Moore.
With Gardner no longer in the Big Apple and his self-proclaimed “GM LeSauce” title now vacant, Brownlee Jr. seems eager to claim the throne. After his quick reply to Diggs on X, it’s clear the former Titan is keeping the team’s recruiting spirit alive, and the Jets might have a new front-office talent on their hands.
The only question is, what do we call him?
