Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills continued their strong start to the 2025 NFL season in Week 9, jumping to 6-2 after a 28-21 win over Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in a rematch of the AFC Championship Game. Allen outplayed Mahomes this time around, completing 23 of 26 passes for 273 yards and a touchdown, adding another two scores on the ground.
With one minute, 38 seconds remaining in the third quarter, Allen scrambled into the end zone for a one-yard touchdown run, marking his second of the day. After the play, Allen and Elijah Mitchell exchanged a few words before making a “throat slash” gesture toward each other in celebration.

While officials didn’t flag Allen for unsportsmanlike conduct, the NFL still fined the Bills star $14,491 for a “violent gesture.” Typically, players can be fined up to that amount for a first unsportsmanlike conduct violation. If Allen were to commit a similar offense in the future, the fine could increase to $20,288.
In fact, Allen was one of four Bills players to be fined in the win over the Chiefs. Moore was also hit with a $13,888 charge for the throat-slash gesture. Cornerback Christian Benford was fined $14,714 for illegal use of the helmet. And running back Ty Johnson was penalized $10,778 for a facemask.

“The NFL fined Bills QB Josh Allen and WR Elijah Moore $13,888 each for unsportsmanlike conduct (violent gesture) — a throat slash motion after Allen scored a TD last week,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero wrote on X.
In Week 9 alone, the NFL handed out 25 fines through 2,206 total plays, good for 1.13% of all snaps. Up next for Allen and the Bills, a Week 10 matchup against the Dolphins in Miami at 1 p.m. ET Sunday on CBS.
