The Lions also ruled out LB Malcolm Rodriguez, who remains on I.R.
As is customary for the Detroit Lions a day ahead of a game, the team executed some roster tinkering on Saturday before heading to Washington to face the Commanders in Week 10.
The Lions waived safety Jammie Robinson from the active roster. It was the first opportunity for Detroit to part ways with Robinson, whom they signed to the active roster off the Kansas City Chiefs’ practice squad on October 15th. Players signed off opposing practice squads must remain on the active 53-man roster for at least three weeks. Robinson did not play in his time in Detroit.
Detroit activated safety Daniel Thomas from injured reserve to take Robinson’s spot. Thomas is now listed as questionable for Sunday’s game as he returns to action from a broken forearm. The Lions did not activate LB Malcolm Rodriguez from injured reserve, so he will not play in Washington.
As far as practice squad promotions, the Lions elevated C/G Michael Niese from the practice squad. It’s the first elevation of the year for Niese.
