As expected, the hit that injured Cincinnati Bengals running back Samaje Perine during his team’s loss to the Chicago Bears in Week 9 has resulted in punishment from the NFL.

According to the NFL’s weekly gameday accountability tally, the NFL fined Bears defender D’Marco Jackson for a hip-drop tackle on Perine.

The fine letter checks in at $6,111 for Jackson.

The Bengals weren’t happy with the tackle, which wasn’t flagged by officials despite the seemingly obvious nature of the infraction.

“That’s the type of tackle that you hope is getting legislated out of the game,” Bengals offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher told ESPN’s Ben Baby after the game.

Perine was in a walking boot after the game and, per Bengals coaches, will need a few weeks to work his way back from a high-ankle sprain.
