In the latest game in the NFL’s international series, the Atlanta Falcons lead the Indianapolis Colts by a score of 14-13 at halftime in Berlin, Germany.
The game got off to an interesting start with the Colts taking the ball deep into Falcons territory before ultimately failing on a fourth down. On the ensuing Falcons drive, Colts cornerback Cam Bynum came unblocked off the edge on a slot blitz and hit Michael Penix from behind, forcing a fumble and giving the Colts the ball back at nearly the exact spot from which they turned it over on downs.
It took just two plays for Indy to find the end zone, with Jonathan Taylor punching the ball in from a yard out. The Falcons then went on a quick scoring drive of their own, with Penix connecting multiple times with Drake London to set up what became a Tyler Allgeier touchdown run that gave Atlanta an early lead. (The Colts missed the extra point after their first touchdown of the game.)
Daniel Jones then went right back to work on the Colts’ next drive, hooking up with Alec Pierce on a deep ball over the top of the coverage to give Indianapolis the lead again. The Colts held their 13-7 lead for most of the second quarter, but Penix led a late drive that culminated with a touchdown pass to London on a gorgeous route in the red zone.Â
Indianapolis had a chance to retake the lead before the break, but Daniel Jones was intercepted on a deep ball with eight seconds remaining in the half, so the Falcons entered halftime with their aforementioned 14-13 advantage.
