MSU football: Video analysis of the Spartans’ 23-20 loss at Minnesota
Lansing State Journal columnist Graham Couch and Detroit Free Press MSU beat writer Chris Solari break down the Spartans’ overtime loss at Minnesota.
Michigan State football (3-6, 0-6 Big Ten) has had a rough 2025 season, but they’ll get a week off to reconvene before their final three-game stretch of the season.
The Spartans are on a bye week, meaning they won’t play a game until Saturday, Nov. 15. That game, a home matchup against Penn State, kicks off at 3:30 p.m. ET and will air on CBS and the Big Ten Network.
Michigan State had a chance to earn its first conference win on Nov. 1 when travelling to Minnesota, but crucial penalty calls in the overtime period led to a 23-20 win for the Golden Gophers, keeping the Spartans winless in Big Ten play.
If there was any good news that came out of Minneapolis that day, it was Alessio Milivojevic, the redshirt freshman quarterback who has spent most of the season as the backup to Aidan Chiles but got his first start in the loss against Minnesota. Milivojevic went 20-for-28 on pass attempts for 311 yards and will likely be the starting quarterback over Chiles against Penn State.
