This probably wasn’t the acronym you had on your broadcasting bingo board this week.
While calling Sunday’s game between the Patriots and Buccaneers for CBS, Tony Romo dropped a curious line as he described Mike Vrabel’s 8-2 New England team.
“This team is DTF, Jim,” Romo told broadcasting partner Jim Nantz. “Details, toughness and they finish.”

Nantz replied, “That’s very close to what Vrabel tells ’em, too,” adding he believes the “T” is reserved for “technique.”
Much like last week’s bizarre soundbite, Romo’s commentary for Week 10 naturally went viral.
“Tony Romo just said the Patriots are DTF … Guess he hasn’t seen Jersey Shore?” NFL insider Albert Breer wrote on X.
“Okay who told Tony Romo that’s what ‘dtf’ means,” WEEI’s Meghan Ottolini posted.
The famed acronym was featured on MTV’s “Jersey Shore” reality series when cast members spoke about their sexual rendezvous.

The Patriots closed out their afternoon in Tampa with a 28-23 victory against a Buccaneers team coming off the bye.
Vrabel has righted the ship in New England after a disastrous 4-13 campaign under Jerod Mayo last season.
The former Patriots linebacker and three-time Super Bowl champ was tapped as Mayo’s successor in January.
As for Romo — whose on-air commentary frequently dominates headlines — he stirred buzz last Sunday after appearing to grunt on the broadcast of the Bills’ eventual win over the Chiefs.
