Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix has had a rough couple of games since obliterating the Dallas Cowboys in Week 8. Nix struggled in games against the Houston Texans and Las Vegas Raiders, leading to many fans booing Nix and the offense for their performance. One football voice recently pondered if the Broncos should start from scratch in 2026.

“I know it was windy in Denver (in their game against the Raiders), but 10 first downs and 11 penalties? Not great for Bo Nix,” said Colin Cowherd on The Herd with Colin Cowherd. “So if Sean Payton is your head coach, (Pro Football Focus) says you have the best offensive line in football, it’s the Raiders defense — you have two very capable running backs — you gotta do better than 10 first downs… Would Sean Payton draft another quarterback?”

Now that the absurdity is out of the way, let’s get to the cold numbers. Nix has thrown a touchdown pass in 17 straight games. The Broncos are winners of seven straight. Yes, Nix has struggled in games where he is playing teams above .500, and is not performing for three quarters of the game. But, Nix has 18 touchdowns on the season (tied for fifth-most in the NFL), has only taken 10 sacks this year, and hovers right around the league average in yards (13th) and QBR (18th).

Despite calls from national media and fans alike, Nix has maintained the confidence of his coaches and teammates. Usually, when a quarterback is on his last legs, he loses the locker room. But Nix is a vocal leader on the sidelines during games and on the field, even if the offense isn’t as successful as they want to be.

The major point is, Nix is already ahead of where he was in Week 10 in 2024, and while he does make mistakes, he tries to learn from them. Drafting a quarterback in 2026 isn’t a great prospect, especially as the Broncos continue to drop in their draft position as they win. In addition, the Broncos should not move on from Nix, who, as a reminder, beat out two veteran quarterbacks in a training camp competition and led Denver to the playoffs in his rookie year.

It’s too early to give up on Nix, who just a few weeks ago was the face of the franchise, leading a 33-point rally to the New York Giants in a comeback the likes of which many of us haven’t seen before or since.

Don’t give up on Nix just yet. Even the great John Elway struggled.

“I watch all the media, and I’m going, ‘Bo, I’ve been there. All you gotta do is keep winning,’” said Elway at the premiere of his Netflix documentary. “‘All that other stuff will go away.’”

Up next for Nix and the Broncos is a home game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
