Here are five snap count observations from the Colts’ Week 10 game with the Falcons.

Continuing on with our look back at the Indianapolis Colts’ Week 10 performance against the Atlanta Falcons, let’s highlight some noteworthy snap count figures.

For the most part, when it comes to playing time, there aren’t many huge surprises, but each week, even at the halfway point in the season, there are a few things we can glean.

So, with help from PFF, here are a few quick notes from the Colts‘ snap count totals from Week 10.

Heavy tight end usage

This isn’t new for the Colts, but is worth noting. Tyler Warren was on the field for 68 of the team’s 77 offensive snaps, while Mo Alie-Cox played 35 snaps and Drew Ogletree played 19. There was a fair amount of two-tight-end looks from Indianapolis against Atlanta and even some three-tight-end sets as well.

The cornerback position

Sauce Gardner, of course, started on one side, but opposite of him was Mekhi Blackmon, who the Colts went with as a starter instead of Jaylon Jones.

What about the defensive end rotation?

Without Samson Ebukam and Tyquan Lewis, the Colts relied very heavily again on Laiatu Latu and Kwity Paye. While defensive end is generally a heavily rotated position, Paye played 59 of the 63 defensive snaps, and Latu played 53. JT Tuimoloau would play 20, which is more than what he saw a week ago.

The return game

Just as we saw last week, with Anthony Gould sidelined, Ameer Abdullah handled kick return duties next to Ashton Dulin, while Josh Downs was the punt returner. All three had big returns in this game.

No DeForest Buckner at defensive tackle

With DeForest Buckner on injured reserve, the Colts went light at defensive tackle, primarily relying on only three players rather than four. Adetomiwa Adebawore played 44 snaps, Grover Stewart played 43, and Neville Gallimore played 32. Eric Johnson would play only seven snaps.
