New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson is expected to miss at least 3-4 weeks with a sprained knee, ESPN’s Rich Cimini reports. Wilson is rehabbing the injury, and no surgery is expected.
Wilson went down in the third quarter of Sunday’s 27–20 win over the Cleveland Browns. Before this weekend’s injury, Wilson had been sidelined the previous two weeks with an injury to the same knee.

It will be hard to fill the fourth-year receiver’s void on offense. Wilson has 36 catches for 395 yards and four touchdowns this season, leading the team in all categories. The loss of Wilson makes him the second receiver to recently go down after the team placed Josh Reynolds on injured reserve.
The Jets have also struggled overall as a passing offense. They rank near the bottom of the league in passing yards, averaging only 143.8 per game. Despite Sunday’s win, Jets quarterback Justin Fields threw for just 54 yards on 6-of-11 passing, with one touchdown and one interception. The Jets gained only 169 total yards.

Outside of Wilson, no Jet has more than one receiving touchdown. Rookie tight end Mason Taylor and running back Breece Hall are next in receiving yards on the team. Former Philadelphia Eagles receiver John Metchie III and Isaiah Williams, who returned a punt for a touchdown last weekend, are also expected to be in the mix.

Last week, the Jets traded defensive lineman Quinnen Williams to the Dallas Cowboys and cornerback Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts. Both were former top-five draft picks and viewed as franchise cornerstones after signing extensions with the team. Each player was traded for multiple picks and young players.
One of the young players the Jets acquired was 2024 second-round pick Adonai Mitchell, who has yet to make his Jets debut. Mitchell is expected to play in Thursday night’s game against the New England Patriots. He has nine catches for 152 yards on the season.
The Jets are 2–7 and last in the AFC East this season.
