Aaron Donald doesn’t play for the Los Angeles Rams anymore, but the retired NFL great still has time to spar with 49ers fans on social media.

After Matthew Stafford and the Rams diced up the 49ers’ depleted defense in their 42-26 win over San Francisco on Sunday at Levi’s Stadium, the legendary defensive tackle celebrated his former team’s win with a post on X that read: “Belt to ass hahaha good s–t Rams” with the salute and flexing emojis.

It’s safe to assume Donald’s comments on the post were flooded with the 49ers Faithful, because his next post was a bit more direct.

What’s up with all these 49ers fans y’all mad y’all still living off y’all last Super Bowl win in 1995 haha. Y’all know my resume. Let me be 💫

Donald retired at the end of the 2023 NFL season as a three-time Defensive Player of the Year, eight-time First Team All-Pro and 10-time Pro Bowl selection. He also is a Super Bowl champion after Los Angeles won it all to end the 2021 season — admittedly much more recent than San Francisco’s last Lombardi Trophy, when they won Super Bowl XXIX at the end of the 1994 campaign.

But 49ers fans certainly have bragging rights in the grand scheme of things, with five Super Bowl championships compared to the Rams’ two. And while Donald displayed his own dominance against San Francisco over the years, the 49ers owned a 14-6 record against the Rams while Donald played for them from the 2014 to 2023 seasons.

Even this year, as injuries have decimated the 49ers’ roster, San Francisco guaranteed a season series split with the Rams after beating them during a thrilling overtime Week 5 win in Los Angeles.

But a division rivalry never dies, and it’s clear Donald still is having fun with the fans of his old NFC West foe — this time, from his couch.
