A Washington Commanders fan got more than he bargained for when he decided to leap over a barrier and attempt to run onto the field during Sunday’s defeat to the Detroit Lions.
The Commanders were outclassed at Northwest Stadium by Dan Campbell’s Lions, who romped to a 44-22 victory in front of President Donald Trump, who was watching from a suite.
It had been a bad-tempered game, with Commanders defensive lineman Daron Payne ejected in the first quarter for unleashing a punch at Lions wide receiver Amon Ra St. Brown. The incident happened moments after St. Brown celebrated a touchdown by doing Trump’s signature dance, and Payne was punished by the NFL less than 24 hours later.
Footage uploaded to social media shows a Commanders fan also lost his cool during the game.
The video showed a spectator wearing a Jayden Daniels jersey in what appeared to be an angry confrontation with Lions long snapper Hogan Hatten, something that Hatten has denied.
