Denver Broncos second-year quarterback Bo Nix faced heavy criticism following the team’s ugly 10-7 win over the Las Vegas Raiders last Thursday, and a former Sean Payton quarterback has joined the conversation.

“Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos can no longer play like this,” former NFL quarterback Chase Daniel said in a video posted on his Twitter/X page.

Daniel, who had two stints under Payton as a backup with the New Orleans Saints, said Nix has not been seeing open wide receivers downfield in recent games.

“When I’m watching the game — and I know Sean Payton’s offense — there’s stuff open and he’s just not seeing it. … It’s been a little troublesome, it’s sort of carried over to this year and it hasn’t gotten any better,” Daniel said.

Nix went 16-of-28 passing for 150 yards with one touchdown against two interceptions last week.

“I don’t think he’s on a second-year slump, but he just seems to be in a hurry in the pocket,” Daniel said of Nix. “I’m not going to far as say[ing] he’s seeing ghosts, but every single throw — whether it’s mechanically or maybe his arm’s hurt or something — every ball is just dying, and that’s a little concerning.”

Daniel acknowledged that Denver’s receivers have had too many drops, but he pointed out that Nix has been impatient in the pocket and hasn’t been setting his feet on throws.

“I wanna see this offense unleashed, because it is truly an offense that can go — you gotta have some speed guys — but Bo Nix right now, he’s just, he’s not seeing it.”

Up next for Nix and the Broncos is a home game against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 11. Last year, Nix went 22-of-30 for 215 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in Denver’s first showdown with KC. Nix led what could have been a game-winning drive in that contest, but the team’s ensuing field goal attempt was blocked, sealing a 16-14 loss. If the Broncos are going to win Sunday’s rematch, Nix will have to play better than he has been lately.
