The San Francisco 49ers met the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday at Levi’s Stadium for their second matchup of the year, but after winning the first game 26-23 in overtime in Week 5, Kyle Shanahan’s squad fell 42-26.

San Francisco’s defense continues to look rough without Nick Bosa, Fred Warner and Mykel Williams, who are all done for the year, but their offense is getting healthier, with Jake Brendel and Ben Bartch returning to block for Mac Jones and co. Still, with the holes on Robert Saleh’s unit, its tough to really buy in on the team as legitimate contenders in 2025.

USA Today’s Nate Davis agrees, as he put the 49ers at No. 16 in Week 10 power rankings, and after their loss to the Rams, he’s moved them up just one spot to No. 15 heading into Week 11.

“Only percentage points out of the NFC’s final wild-card spot, none of the Niners’ next four opponents currently has a winning record,” Davis wrote.

San Francisco really only jumped up one spot because the Pittsburgh Steelers, who were No. 12, last week, fell to the Los Angeles Chargers, dropping them to No. 17.

As Davis mentioned, the 49ers have an easier stretch coming up, so they could stack a few wins, but victories against these teams probably won’t mean much for their standing in the power rankings. Losses, however, could drop them even further.
