The Washington Commanders signed defensive end Demarcus Walker to their roster ahead of their Sunday morning match-up with the Miami Dolphins in Madrid, Spain, per his agent.
Walker is a former second-round draft pick in 2017 for the Denver Broncos and played four seasons in the Mile High City. His best season with Denver came in 2020, when he set a then-career high in sacks (4.5) and forced fumbles (one).
He spent a season with the Houston Texans and the Tennessee Titans in 2021 and 2022 before his most recent stint with the Chicago Bears from 2023 to 2024. In his final season with Chicago, Walker set a career high in tackles (47), solo (25) and assisted (22), and recorded 3.5 sacks. He appeared in all 17 games and recorded seven tackles for loss.
Per Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic, Walker traveled to Madrid and could be a possible evaluation to dress in the Commanders’ Week 11 contest.
Washington lost defensive ends Deatrich Wise Jr., Javontae Jean-Baptiste, Drake Jackson, and Dorance Armstrong to injured reserve this season, leaving 29-year-olds Jalyn Holmes and Jacob Martin as the sole defensive ends on the Commanders roster.
Holmes has only played in six contests this season, where he has recorded three solo tackles; however, he did not play in Sunday’s 44-22 loss to the Detroit Lions.
Martin has been the Commanders’ lone starter since Week 1, and has 11 solo tackles and the third most sacks on the team (3.5).
