The Pittsburgh Steelers are adding a potential piece to their secondary as their season hits its stretch run.

Cornerback Asante Samuel Jr., who recently was medically cleared after undergoing a spinal fusion procedure this offseason, is signing with the Steelers’ practice squad, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported.

Samuel took a number of visits to interested teams after he received medical clearance and is set to join a Pittsburgh defense that has rounded into form after a dismal start to the season.
