The Cardinals got hit with a rash of injuries Sunday in Seattle, but had another significant one before they even got back on the practice field.
Wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. suffered a bout of appendicitis and had surgery on Monday night, putting him out for the game against the 49ers and potentially longer.
Harrison has 34 receptions for 525 yards and four touchdowns this season, all stats second on the team behind tight end Trey McBride.
“It’s life in the NFL,” coach Jonathan Gannon said. “It’s our job to put a plan together and get ready to go out and compete and win. That’s the job.”
Fellow wide receiver Simi Fehoko, who suffered an arm injury on Sunday, was placed on Injured Reserve. The team finally announced that wideout Zay Jones, who Gannon said had torn his Achilles, was also officially placed on IR.
The team promoted wide receiver Andre Baccellia from the practice squad to the active roster on Wednesday, and signed former Bills wide receiver Jalen Virgil to the practice squad.
It leaves as the healthy receivers for Sunday Michael Wilson, Greg Dortch, Xavier Weaver, and Baccellia. On the practice squad are Tejhuan Palmer, Jalen Brooks and Virgil.
The Cardinals also re-signed cornerback Jaden Davis to the practice squad.
