#Vikings edge Jonathan Greenard, who left Sunday’s loss with a shoulder injury, is dealing with what is believed to be a minor injury that may just cost him a week. Overall good news. pic.twitter.com/jpDrnNqLo7

It appeared that Vikings EDGE rusher Jonathan Greenard may have potentially suffered a long-term injury in Sunday’s loss to the Baltimore Ravens. He writhed around in pain after chasing Lamar Jackson near the sideline. Greenard did jog to the sideline and was listed as “questionable” to return with a shoulder injury, but he never re-entered the game.

However, we now have clarity that Greenard will not be lost for an extended period. His shoulder injury is “minor”, per Ian Rapaport, and it appears that, at worst, he will miss one week.

Greenard didn’t participate in Wednesday’s practice, and it remains to be seen what his participation will look like for the rest of the week. Because he’s a veteran and it’s not a severe injury, he may be able to play on Sunday against the Bears, even with limited practice.

However, we have seen the Vikings take conservative approaches with injured players since Kevin O’Connell was hired in 2022. That could mean that Greenard will miss his first game in two seasons with the Vikings. Fortunately, it looks like that will be the extent of the timeline.
