Oregon comes off a dramatic 18-16 win at then-No. 20 Iowa last week when Atticus Sappington kicked a 29-yard field goal with three seconds left for the winning score. The Ducks led 15-7 before the Hawkeyes came back to take a 16-15 lead with 1:51 to go, with Oregon stopping the two-point try. The Ducks’ first score came on a bad snap by Iowa that resulted in a safety, and they got a 19-yard touchdown run from Dierre Hill Jr. in the cold, wet conditions. Noah Whittington finished with 118 yards on 17 carries, and Dante Moore was 13-of-21 for 112 yards and an interception as Oregon improved to 5-1 in the Big Ten Conference.
Minnesota returns from a bye week following a 23-20 win over visiting Michigan State on Nov. 1 that got it to 4-2 in the Big Ten. Drake Lindsey triggers the offense, completing 62.2% of his throws for 1,743 yards, 10 touchdowns, and six interceptions. Fame Ijeboi leads the running game with 400 yards and two scores on a 4.7-yard-per-carry pace. Le’Meke Brockington paces the receiving corps with 37 catches for 385 yards and three TDs, with Anthony Smith logging 8.5 sacks and John Nestor recording three interceptions for the defense.
The teams are meeting for the first time since Oregon joined the Big Ten last season, with Minnesota holding a 3-1 all-time edge. The teams haven’t played since the 2003 Sun Bowl, which ended with a 31-30 Golden Gophers’ victory.
