Let’s take a look at how the Colts’ 2025 free agent signees have fared up to this point in the season.

With the Indianapolis Colts on their bye week, let’s take a look back at how GM Chris Ballard’s big free agent additions have fared this season.

In what was presumably a make-or-break season for Ballard as the Colts‘ GM, we saw him pivot this offseason and make drastic changes to his free agency approach, and those moves have paid off in a massive way.

Overall, the Colts entered the offseason with a solid roster, but there were glaring holes at a few key positions, and Ballard addressed those needs in free agency.

Here is a closer look at how each of those players have performed this season and the impact that they’ve had.

QB Daniel Jones

Jones has been a perfect fit for Shane Steichen’s offense. He is operating this system at an extremely high level, almost always knowing where to go with the ball regardless of the situation. Jones has been both efficient as a passer this season, but also able to generate explosive plays as well.

Among all quarterbacks, Jones ranks sixth in completion rate, first in yards, 13th in touchdowns, and fourth in yards per pass attempt, according to PFF.

Football is the ultimate team game, and there is plenty of help on offense around Jones, but the consistency and stability he brings to this position is exactly what the Colts needed.

CB Charvarius Ward

The Colts’ secondary will be getting another big boost in the coming weeks, with Charvarius Ward eligible to come off injured reserve following the bye week.

In five games, he’s allowed 10 receptions on 16 targets, surrendering just 6.7 yards per catch. He also has three pass breakups, while quarterbacks have a passer rating of just 71.6 when targeting him.

Ward’s impact has also gone beyond what happens when the ball comes his way — offenses have often tried to avoid his part of the field, which can allow Lou Anarumo to call a more aggressive game and provide additional help elsewhere if needed.

S Cam Bynum

Bynum plays a key role when it comes to operating the Anarumo defense. For one, his versatility allows him to line up across the second and third levels of the defense. In addition to that, he helps quarterback things pre-snap by getting the secondary on the same page and calling out any adjustments.

Bynum has been a strong run defender from the safety spot, and we’ve seen his ball skills on display with two interceptions and three pass breakups.

IDL Neville Gallimore

Improved play from the defensive tackle depth behind Grover Stewart and DeForest Buckner was a must, and Gallimore — along with Adetomiwa Adebawore — has provided them. Utilized primarily as a pass rusher, Gallimore has logged 11 quarterback pressures and three sacks this season. He also has 17 tackles in the run game.
