If you spend any time on social media, one name that seems to regularly pop up around the Tennessee Titans is former quarterback Ryan Tannehill. The veteran signal caller rejuvenated his career with the Titans and, in time, left his mark on the organization.

While the 37-year-old Tannehill hasn’t officially retired, it appears his days of roaming NFL sidelines are over. In an exclusive interview with D.J. Siddiqi of The Escapist, Tannehill talked about turning the page on the NFL season and looking toward the future.

But no interview with Tannehill would be complete without a discussion of the Titans and their current signal-caller, Cam Ward.

“It’s been rough as well, definitely in a rebuilding mode,” said Tannehill of the Titans. “I think it starts up front, starts in the churches, the offensive and defensive lines. They’ve given up a lot of sacks. I saw that he’s on pace for the most sack yardage record over the course of a year. Not a stat you want to set as a quarterback.”

Tannehill nails this one. Tennessee’s offensive line play has been substandard for two seasons, and even after a significant investment, the unit continues to struggle. It is hard to truly evaluate Ward and his progress when he is constantly under pressure. Ward has already been sacked 38 times in 2025. But as Tannehill points out, even under pressure, Ward has flashed the potential that made him the first-overall selection in the NFL draft.

“I think he’s talented,” says Tannehill of Ward. “He’s showing that talent. I’ve seen some plays. I’m like, ‘OK, I’m seeing something here and really like what he’s doing.’ And then you know, some of the other stuff is just rookie mistakes. Hopefully, these mistakes and these negative things are opportunities for him to grow, and he can really learn from them as they moves forward. Hopefully, the organization does a better job of putting some pieces around him that put him in a position to succeed. But I don’t think he’s been in a really great position to go out and play well.”

While Tannehill has likely taken his last snap in the NFL, the veteran quarterback has not completely closed the door on a comeback if the situation is right. And although he has stopped throwing, if the right opportunity presented itself, he would ramp things up to give it a shot.
