In April, a news story broke that Tennessee Titans cornerback L’Jarius Sneed was being sued by a Texas man for upwards of $1 million after a shooting at a car dealership in December 2024. While the results of the civil suit remain unknown, the fallout from the police report filed on the incident has finally been revealed.
On Tuesday, a grand jury in Dallas County, Texas, indicted Sneed on one count of failure to report a felony. The charge is a Class A misdemeanor, which could include jail time. The charge carries a maximum penalty of one or both of a $4,000 fine and up to one year in jail.
While it appears that no trial date has been set at this time, the Titans are aware of the situation. When pressed on the situation, interim head coach Mike McCoy declined to comment on the incident, which is in line with the organization’s statement.
“We are aware of the legal matter with L’Jarius Sneed and have remained in contact with NFL security per league protocol,” a team statement read. “We will have no further comment during an ongoing investigation.”
Since the indictment came down, ESPN reports that authorities have surveillance video evidence placing Sneed behind the wheel of a Lamborghini Urus near a suburban Dallas dealership where the alleged drive-by shooting took place. No one was injured during the incident, but a witness, Christian Nshimiyimana, identified a Lamborghini Urus as the vehicle involved.
This is just the latest in a long line of frustrations for the Titans and the veteran cornerback, and could mark the end of his career in Nashville. Tennessee paid a hefty price to acquire Sneed from the Kansas City Chiefs and then made him one of the highest-paid cornerbacks in the league, but they have not received anything close to the investment in return from Sneed during his tenure.
Already coming off a disappointing 2024 campaign that was limited to five games, Sneed is again on injured reserve after a Week 7 quad injury, and no timetable for his return has been given.
