Ahead of a Big Ten showdown against Northwestern, Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore opened up on how the Wolverines can fix their passing game with talented quarterback Bryce Underwood.

“Go back to the basics, talk about your footwork, your eyes, your hips, where the ball is going to be, throwing on time and all of those things,” Moore said of what the staff has been working on with Underwood. “He’s so athletic, he’s so talented but let the creative plays come to you. Don’t force anything. Play within yourself. Obviously, we were great with ball security drills this week, doing things to emphasize that for him.”

That work appears to have paid off as Underwood started Saturday’s game against the Wildcats 5-of-5 for 74 yards, but there is still some cause for concern during the game as the playing surface doesn’t appear to be in the best shape.

“Field conditions at Wrigley are not fantastic in the bleacher-side end zone,” Michigan beat writer Alejandro Zuniga revealed on social media with a photo showing the patch-like field.

The photo sparked a strong reaction from college football fans. “Shocking a temp football field is in bad shape in the fall in the Midwest,” one fan pointed out.

“Player safety seems to still be a low priority,” suggested another before a third highlighted a different option, “If only a city like Chicago had a large stadium capable of playing football games. Maybe even one that would honor our soldiers too.”
