NFL midterm report card: grading every first-Year head coach

USA TODAY Sports’ Joe Rivera and Chris Bumbaca break down which first-year head coaches are exceeding expectations and who’s falling short.

The New Orleans Saints are almost at the finish line.

Before they get there, however, New Orleans is getting a brief intermission. Wins have come few and far between for Kellen Moore in his first season as head coach, but things are looking up heading into the bye.

They are fresh off an upset win over the Carolina Panthers, which came after Tyler Shough’s best showing as a pro. The rookie looked the part of a starting quarterback and made significant improvement in just his second start. Saints fans hoping for an encore will have to wait another week though.

New Orleans is on vacation this week, but at least they have something to look forward to when they return.

Here’s a look at the NFL Week 11 schedule.

The Saints are not playing on Nov. 16.

New Orleans is on their bye in Week 11, along with the Indianapolis Colts. The Saints will return to action in Week 12 when they host the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, Nov. 23.
