An 0-3 start before mid-September doomed the DeShaun Foster experiment at his alma mater, UCLA.
The Bruins, who saw athletics director Martin Jarmond turn over the program to Foster after Chip Kelly stepped down to become a College Football Playoff championship-winning offensive coordinator at Ohio State last year before Kelly returned to calling playings this season in the NFL, now are more than two months into their search.
Names, from the college and NFL ranks, have been linked to the job.Â
UCLA emissaries have spoken to more than a half-dozen head coaching candidates, numerous sources tell FootballScoop, and Jarmond must be in lock-step in this endeavor with notable UCLA alum Casey Wasserman, who sources from four different agencies tell FootballScoop is very closely involved in this process. Wasserman is the chairman of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics Organizing Committee, among other notable endeavors.
So, where do things stand here nine weeks after Jarmond’s firing of Foster, his hand-picked replacement for Kelly and who went 5-10 in a truncated, 15-game cameo atop his alma mater’s program?
FootballScoop dives into the latest here.Â
