The injury bug continues to haunt the 49ers.

And, in San Francisco’s 41-22 win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday at State Farm Stadium, it appears Eddy Piñeiro was one of the latest to get stung.

The 30-year-old kicker exited the victory with 2:32 remaining in the third quarter and was ruled questionable due to a hamstring injury, following a successful PAT attempt to give the 49ers a 35-10 lead. Coach Kyle Shanahan shared the latest on Piñeiro with reporters postgame.

“Eddy Piñeiro had a hamstring [injury and] didn’t return,” Shanahan confirmed before adding, “We think he pulled it, but [we’re] not sure; we’ll have to check tomorrow.”

San Francisco was forced to go for two after its final score, with punter Thomas Morstead taking over kickoff duties on the ensuing boot.

Piñeiro was spotted limping into the 49ers’ locker room after the team improved its record to 7-4.

It is unclear if Piñeiro was dealing with the hamstring injury before his fourth and final PAT attempt of the game. Piñeiro did miss two PAT attempts in the win, but he remained perfect on field-goal attempts this season with makes of 48, 47 and 47 yards in the win.

Every injury weighs more as San Francisco is well into the second half of the 2025 NFL season. But losing Piñeiro — or his full strength — for any number of games would put a damper on what has been a fun addition to the team.

After replacing former 49ers kicker Jake Moody in early September, Piñeiro has made all 19 of his field goal attempts over 10 games, including six from over 50 yards.

San Francisco might have more answers regarding Piñeiro’s health status on Monday, as Shanahan said.
