The Indianapolis Colts are reportedly signing a veteran defensive tackle.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Colts are signing Chris Wormley to the practice squad.
Last week, it was reported that Wormley, along with five other defensive linemen, were brought in for a workout by Indianapolis.
Wormley was a third-round draft pick by the Baltimore Ravens in 2017. Over his eight NFL seasons, he has appeared in 87 games, which includes making 31 starts.
He has appeared in just seven games between the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
Along with playing for the Ravens, Wormley has spent time with Pittsburgh and Carolina as well.
Wormley’s most productive season came in 2021, when he logged 29 quarterback pressures and seven sacks.
For his career, he’s made 150 total tackles, including 14 for a loss, with 23 quarterback hits and 11 sacks.
The addition of Wormley to the practice squad provides the Colts with another experienced presence at defensive tackle while DeForest Buckner is on injured reserve.
Wormley can be elevated from the practice squad to the game day roster up to three times for the remainder of this season.
Against Atlanta, the Colts primarily relied on a three-man rotation at tackle without Buckner, with Grover Stewart, Neville Gallimore, and Adetomiwa Adebawore shouldering that workload.
At a heavily rotated position like defensive tackle, it’s not uncommon for four or even five players to see regular snaps at this position group.
