The San Francisco 49ers kicking woes aren’t over just yet.
Kicker Eddy Pineiro, who is a perfect 22-for-22 this season with San Francisco, is dealing with a Grade 1 hamstring injury that could push him out of action for the 49ers’ Week 12 matchup against the Carolina Panthers. Head coach Kyle Shanahan on Monday in a conference call indicated Pineiro is week-to-week. He also said the club will be actively looking for a replacement for at least Week 12.
“We’re going to bring in some guys for a workout,” Shanahan said. “Theyāre working on that now. They’re going to do it either tomorrow or Wednesday.ā
One of the players the club is bringing in is former Atlanta Falcons kicker John Parker Romo according to the Athletic’s Matt Barrows.
Romo spent seven games with Atlanta this season and connected on all five of his field goals in his debut. Then he missed two kicks the following week and another two weeks later. In all he was 11-of-14 on field goal tries, but the club released him after Week 9 when he missed a game-tying extra point late in the team’s one-point loss to the New England Patriots.
In 11 NFL games with the Minnesota Vikings and Falcons, Romo is 22-of-26 on field goal tries and 19-of-21 on extra point attempts.
