The Cleveland Browns’ defense just can’t help but giving up that one big play or big drive each week. It’s hard to be mad at them, because one bad drive shouldn’t cost most teams a game when the rest of their performance is stellar. The backbreaker this week,

I was one week off in projecting that Myles Garrett would nearly repeat his five-sack performance (he had four this week). He received a grade of 90.8 from PFF, the highest grade on defense for Cleveland this week.

It was nice to see Mike Hall gew a few more reps this week, up from the three he had last week. He also logged a sack.

With Alex Wright out, the Browns increased Isaiah McGuire’s reps and gave more action to Cameron Thomas as the rotational player. Thomas received a solid grade of 71.9 from PFF, fourth best on defense.

Shelby Harris was credited for a big day in run defense. He was the Browns’ second-highest graded player on run defense, grading out to an 83.5.

It seems like Carson Schwesinger is having big games each week; he had 10 tackles, two of them for losses, and an interception. And yet, there’s something he’s doing that is consistently putting him toward the bottom of PFF’s grades. He received a grade of 52.3 from PFF this week, which was fourth worst on the defense.

Devin Bush also had a nice-looking game, including coming away with the pick six in the first half. He received a grade of 79.1 from PFF, third-highest on defense.

Jerome Baker had more snaps than Mohamoud Diabate this week.

The Browns’ cornerbacks were all dinged for missed tackles against the Ravens. They can cover well, but we’ve seen other teams with far superior tackling from the position.

Ronnie Hickman missed a key interception in the end zone in the second half.
