LAS VEGAS — For Cowboys wide receiver Ryan Flournoy, the last eleven days has sparked a lot of memories about his friend and teammate Marshawn Kneeland.

He thought about the double dates he and Kneeland had with their respective significant others, walking down Hollywood Boulevard during training camp in southern California. He was remined about Kneeland’s hustle, as showcased by Kneeland beating him to a blocked punt against Arizona and eventually scoring. He was reminded of a wish that he had: that he could’ve done Kneeland to “wait on God, no matter how hard life gets,” before Kneeland died by suicide.

Monday’s 33-16 win over the Las Vegas Raiders gave Flournoy a new memory about Kneeland.

Flournoy had only one catch on Monday, but it was a special one: a two-yard touchdown catch from Dak Prescott that all-but put Monday’s game out of reach. Flournoy took a moment and paused right after the catch. His mind immediately went to Kneeland.

“Instantly. I put my head down in a moment of silence just to reminisce [about] him. I was playing this game for him and Jesus, so I felt both of their presence today.”

There were a lot of reminders of Kneeland on Monday. The Cowboys had a decal for Kneeland on their helmets. They wore pregame shirts in honor of Kneeland. The Raiders had a moment of silence for him. Kneeland’s jersey was with them in the locker room and was with them on the bench.

And he was with Flournoy, too.

“Great memories,” Flournoy said when thinking about Kneeland. “Just to play for him, just wishing he was here. He would’ve definitely balled today; would’ve definitely had fun. You could see him smiling the whole game.”
