Wilson caught 15 passes for 185 yards, coming close to matching in one game his entire season’s production previously.

The Arizona Cardinals lost on Sunday to the San Francisco 49ers 41-22 at State Farm Stadium. There were many things not to like, but not everything was bad.

Receiver Michael Wilson had a monster game.

Playing as WR1 for the first time in his career because Marvin Harrison Jr. was out after having his appendix removed, he nearly doubled his season stats. Targeted 18 times, he had 15 receptions for 185 yards.

Entering the game, he had 22 catches for 231 yards.

The performance didn’t really come as a surprise to people.

“I think that’s what we expected from him,” quarterback Jacoby Brissett said postgame on Sunday. “I thought he was going to rise to the occasion.”

Head coach Jonathan Gannon said Wilson “played his ass off.”

Harrison could miss more than the one game, which means Wilson could have more opportunities his way. If not, that production shows he is up to the task if it is ever needed.
