The Arizona Cardinals have lost seven of their last eight games, and it feels like the sky is falling. The Cardinals started the year 2-0 before losing five straight games. Arizona rebounded with a strong win against the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football in Week 9.
However, now the Cardinals have lost two straight divisional games, where the game has essentially been over before halftime.
What Does the Rest Of the Cardinals’ Season Look Like?
With Sunday’s loss to the 49ers, the Cardinals now sit at 3-7 with seven games remaining, sitting at the bottom of their division.
Arizona plays its next three games against current playoff teams, and two of the Cardinals’ remaining games are against the Los Angeles Rams, who currently lead the NFC West division and hold the No. 2 seed in the NFL.
The Cardinals are reeling, and their schedule doesn’t get any easier. Arizona has a better chance at getting the No. 1 overall pick than making the playoffs, according to PFSN’s NFL Football Playoff Meter.
The Cardinals have a 0.50% chance to make the playoffs after Sunday’s loss and a 1.20% chance to get the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Arizona’s slim chance to make the playoffs dropped by 2.40% on Sunday, and its No. 1 overall pick chance rose by 0.20%.
The Cardinals are tied with three other teams at three wins, and there are seven teams with a lower winning percentage after 11 weeks.
Arizona’s remaining opponents are the Jaguars, coming off a blowout win over the Los Angeles Chargers, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Rams twice, the Houston Texans, fighting for a playoff spot, the Atlanta Falcons, and the Cincinnati Bengals, likely featuring Joe Burrow.
To make matters worse, it feels like the Cardinals are at their absolute lowest point. Each of Arizona’s first seven games of the season was a one-possession game, and the Cardinals led in the fourth quarter in six of them.
Then, the Cardinals beat the Cowboys, and it’s been downhill from there.
Arizona has lost two straight blowouts, and it’s never been close. The Cardinals fell into a 35-0 hole in the second quarter against the Seattle Seahawks, and never found a way back into the game. Then, they went down 13-0 against the 49ers.

Head coach Jonathan Gannon said after both games that the losses fell on him, but there wasn’t a significantly better performance after the first one.
It’s respective for the head coach to take accountability for the team’s putrid performances, but at some point, there needs to be a difference in the play on the field. With the Cardinals’ level of competition throughout the rest of the season, Arizona could end up with a prime first-round draft pick heading into 2026.
