Tennessee lost more than the game on Sunday, which furthered their march to the first overall selection. The Tennessee Titans suffered several devastating injuries to the receiver room, leaving them in despair and searching for answers. Which Titans receivers sustained injuries, and who has a chance to return or not this season? Additionally, what are some options for the franchise as it struggles to find help in the passing game?

Injury Woes Leave Tennessee Titans Receiver Room In Despair

The Titans saw several of their top receivers go down in various points of the contest against the hated Texans, with two being unable to return to action.

Calvin Ridley

Ridley suffered a broken fibula in his first game action since the hamstring injury sidelined him for several games. It appeared that his leg caught itself awkwardly in the turf when tackled by safety Calen Bullock. Former Titans linebacker and notoriously ill-disciplined Azeez Al-Shaair finished the play, which caused Bullock to land on Ridley’s leg.

Ridley was coming back from the aforementioned hamstring issue and returned for just one play before leaving after the serious leg injury. It was later reported by numerous press outlets, including NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport, that Ridley suffered a broken fibula, which ended his 2025 season. Head coach Mike McCoy announced the unfortunate diagnosis during the postgame press conference.

The injury likely ends Ridley’s time in Nashville after over 1.5 seasons in the two-toned blue. He signed a four-year, $92 million contract in 2024, which he stood no chance of living up to. The mercurial receiver has been the subject of trade speculation since the Titans lost their way last season, but they hung onto him to help Cam Ward. According to OverTheCap, if he is released as expected, it will cost Tennessee $8 million in dead cap but save them $18 million if designated as a Post-6/1 release. The net gain will be minimal if Tennessee cuts him before 6/1, but leaves a $13 million dead cap charge. However, the Titans are projected to possess well over $100 million in cap room in 2026, but every penny matters.

Ridley will go on the Injured Reserve to possibly finish out his ill-fated Titans career. He produced 80 receptions for 1,307 yards and four touchdowns in his time before the injury knocked him out.

Chimere Dike

The rookie receiver became a revelation in the return game, earning plaudits and a potential Pro Bowl nomination for his work. Dike, a fourth-round rookie from Florida, has returned 42 kicks for 1,108 yards and has a nifty punt return touchdown on his CV. He was injured in the Week 12 loss after attempting to field a punt in the first half. The team doctors quickly ruled him out due to a concussion. McCoy mentioned that the rookie receiver suffered a chest contusion on the same play.

Joining his receiver compadres in the injury tent and beyond was rookie Elic Ayomanor, who suffered a hamstring injury. He did return to action for a brief cameo appearance before leaving the field again. Hamstring injuries can be finicky beasts, much like back injuries, so it remains to be seen how long Ayomanr will be out. At minimum, he’ll likely miss the next game against the Seahawks. Tennessee tends to be conservative with its injuries, so a lengthier absence could be in the cards.

What’s Next For The Titans?

Ridley is obviously done for the season, but the status of the other two receivers is up in the air, leaving the injury-riddled Titans with few options. Free agent names include former Titan Tyler Boyd, Jamison Crowder, Brandon Powell, and Allen Robinson. Internally, Tennessee could choose to elevate James Proche II and Xavier Restrepo from the practice squad. Externally, there’s no doubt that they will comb each team’s practice squads to claim players.
