The New York Jets dropped their “Thursday Night Football” game against the New England Patriots in a Week 11 clash.
The Jets (2-8) lost to the AFC East leader in 27-14 fashion. While the scoreboard stayed close for longer than some might expect, it certainly did not feel that way.
As the game rolled on, it seemed like these two teams played in different leagues… and it was not the Green and White playing in the better one.
With that, here is Jets Wire’s instant analysis of the Jets’ loss to the Patriots:
What went right?
The huge positive was a great start from the Jets… on offense. Who would have expected New York to take a 7-0 lead?
From there, the defense faltered and allowed the Patriots to scored three-straight touchdowns. The defense did shore things up and keep the game close for a bit… at least on the scoreboard.
Aside from that, not a lot went right for the JEts.
What went wrong?
Quarterback Justin Fields simply is not a starting quarterback. That idea is done and dusted after this one.
Had the Jets put a capable quarterback in the game… someone like Tyrod Taylor… who knows?
The defense did struggle early. When you’re a bad team, that is demoralizing. Missed tackles were a problem just like miscues on offense.
What’s the bottom line?
Fields should not be under center any more unless the Jets are tanking.
There are players making an effort for head coach Aaron Glenn despite the circumstances… but if Glenn wants to build a “culture,” Fields just is not part of that.
What’s next?
The Jets return to Sunday action in Week 12 as they visit the Baltimore Ravens (4-5).
