5 questions with LeRoy Butler: Should Packers QB Malik Willis play more?
LeRoy Butler talks about why Malik Willis should get some snaps at quarterback for the Packers, and the role receiver Christian Watson should have.
One of the main reasons the Green Bay Packers were the No. 7 seed in last season’s NFC playoffs was their inability to defeat teams in their own division. The team lost five of six games in the NFC North.
But they have a chance to flip that script in 2025 over the next few weeks.
Sunday’s Nov. 23 game against the Minnesota Vikings at Lambeau Field is the Packers‘ first of three straight games against division opponents. After hosting the Vikings, the Packers travel to Detroit for a Thanksgiving game against the Lions and then return home to face the visiting Chicago Bears.
With the Packers sitting in the No. 6 spot in the NFC playoff picture and finishing the season with three out of four games on the road, the Packers need to perform well against divisional foes to make a move in the crowded conference standings.
Though the Vikings are a mediocre 4-5, the Packers (6-3-1) haven’t exactly looked sharp against teams with losing records this season. Though they’ve defeated Washington and Cincinnati rather easily, they’ve lost to Cleveland, tied Dallas and been involved in tight games with Arizona and the New York Giants.
But, with the exception of the Browns loss, they’ve scored at least 27 points in the games against teams below .500, including last week’s 27-20 win over the Giants.

Josh Jacobs injury update
The Packers’ running back position could get a boost this week with the return of MarShawn Lloyd to practice. But the better news is that starter Josh Jacobs might be able to play.
According to coach Matt LaFleur, Jacobs suffered only a contusion to his knee in the Packers’ win over the Giants on Nov. 16.
Other Packers injury updates, including Jordan Love
LaFleur said quarterback Jordan Love is feeling fine after playing through the win over the Giants with a left shoulder injury.

The Vikings have seven players on injured reserve, but no new injuries in last week’s game against Chicago.
Packers-Vikings last meeting
The Packers lost to the Vikings twice last season, including a 27-25 defeat in Minneapolis in late December.
