Whose Week 11 struggles raise more questions about their future?
Joe Rivera and Chris Bumbaca break down J.J. McCarthy and Sam Darnold’s Week 11 performance and what this means for them moving forward.
Don’t count out Aaron Rodgers for the Pittsburgh Steelers‘ Week 12 game against the Chicago Bears just yet.
The quarterback exited Sunday’s win over the Cincinnati Bengals with a left wrist injury that kept him sidelined for the duration of the second half.
But the four-time NFL MVP might not be ready to hand the starting reins to backup Mason Rudolph, who finished out the remainder of the 34-12 victory, this early in the week.
On Tuesday, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin confirmed that Rodgers will not need surgery to repair the fracture to his non-throwing wrist.
Here’s the latest on Rodgers’ status and availability:
Will Aaron Rodgers play against Bears on Sunday?
Rodgers remains in the mix to start Sunday against the Bears, though the team will assess his playing viability as the week goes on.
“Really, it’s just about bracing it and securing it for his comfort and safety. And then it’s about how functional he is,” Tomlin said during his Tuesday news conference.
Added Tomlin: “He’s the type of guy and has the type of profile that doesn’t require a lot of physical work in an effort to be ready to play, and that’s helpful.”
A decision is not expected until Friday at the earliest as the team monitors Rodgers’ ability to operate with the injury.
“We’ll see where the week leads us, and we’ll take it day by day,” Tomlin said.
Rodgers, who Tomlin said wanted to re-enter Sunday’s game, is not expected to practice Wednesday.
