Jaguars coach Liam Coen says anger fueled victory over Chargers

Jaguars coach Liam Coen discusses how an angered Jaguars team is the version that plays best, and it showed in a rout of the Chargers.

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Bhayshul Tuten has been nominated for the NFL’s Rookie of the Week award for his performance against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 11.

Tuten is among six rookies nominated this week, including New England Patriots RB TreVeyon Henderson, Arizona Cardinals linebacker Cody Simon, Carolina Panthers receiver Tetairoa McMillan, Cleveland Browns linebacker Carson Schwesinger and Denver Broncos WR Pat Bryant.

This is Tuten’s second nomination this season after he was nominated for his Week 2 performance against the Bengals. In Week 2, Tuten totaled 74 scrimmage yards, including 42 rushing, 32 receiving and a touchdown. Rookie WR/CB Travis Hunter was nominated twice (Week 5 and Week 7) before being sidelined for the rest of the year due to an LCL injury.

Tuten posted season-high numbers against Los Angeles in Week 11 with 15 carries for 74 yards and a touchdown before injuring his ankle early in the fourth quarter. Tuten did not return to the contest.

The Jaguars selected Tuten in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He, alongside fellow rookie RB LeQuint Allen, has been a bright spot in an injury-riddled rookie class for Jacksonville.

The Jaguars have lost three rookies for the season, including Hunter, third-round safety Caleb Ransaw and sixth-round pick Jalen McLeod. McLeod is technically on the team’s IR/designated to return list, but there’s been no indication thus far that he will.

Tuten has totaled 60 carries for 238 yards and three rushing touchdowns this year. He’s added eight catches for 61 yards and a receiving touchdown.

The Jaguars will take on the Arizona Cardinals this week for an opportunity to improve their playoff chances and get to 7-4 on the season.
