The Carolina Panthers parted ways with a defender on Tuesday.

As announced this afternoon, the team has released safety Israel Mukuamu from their practice squad.

Mukuamu was one of two players, alongside veteran inside linebacker Krys Barnes, who were elevated to the active roster for this past Sunday’s NFC South showdown against the Atlanta Falcons. He recorded each of his 11 snaps on special teams in the 30-27 win.

The Charlotte, N.C. native was a sixth-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys from the 2021 NFL draft. He went on to play in 50 games for Dallas up until 2024—amassing 42 tackles, three interceptions, a fumble recovery and a pair of quarterback hits.

He first joined the Panthers’ practice squad in September, was released in October and then re-signed with the group in early November.

A corresponding move has not been announced.
