Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. will miss Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

On Wednesday, Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters Harrison and running back Emari Demercado will be sidelined for the upcoming contest.

This comes after Harrison also missed the previous game against the San Francisco 49ers because he underwent surgery to treat appendicitis.

Prior to the surgery, the Ohio State product had not missed a game in his early NFL career.

He played all 17 contests during his rookie campaign in 2024 and appeared in each of Arizona’s first nine games this season. The timing of the setback was less than ideal as well considering he scored a touchdown in his two previous appearances against the Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks.

Harrison seemed to be building some chemistry with Jacoby Brissett, who is playing for the sidelined Kyler Murray, but that will have to wait until at least Arizona’s Week 13 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Cardinals made Harrison one of their franchise building blocks when they selected him with the No. 4 overall pick of the 2024 NFL draft, and he has shown flashes of his overall potential even if the head-turning numbers and consistency are yet to arrive.

He posted 62 catches for 885 yards and eight touchdowns as a rookie and has followed with 34 catches for 525 yards and four touchdowns this season.

His absence against the Jaguars will likely mean plenty of opportunity for Michael Wilson. The Stanford product had 15 catches for 185 yards on 18 targets during the game against the 49ers, while tight end Trey McBride was second on the team with 10 catches for 115 yards and a touchdown on 11 targets.

Look for Greg Dortch to see a number of opportunities as well as the No. 2 wide receiver behind Wilson as long as Harrison is sidelined.
